Reception curriculum
In the Foundation Stage, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Reception Foundation Stage. This framework is based on the following principles: that every child is a unique child, that children need positive relationships and enabling environments and that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The curriculum involve activities and experiences based on topics of interest to the children which develop:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Literacy skills
- Mathematical development
- An understanding of the world
- Expressive arts and design skills
We follow Essential Letters and Sounds (ELS) for phonics throughout the school.
The main reading schemes used at St Peter in Eastgate Infant School are from the Oxford university press, including Hero Academy, Hero Academy Non fiction, Aileen adventures, Word sparks, traditional Tales and Little blending books.
Please see class teacher's if you would like additional information on the curriculum for Reception.
