Dear Parents and carers,

Ofsted inspection 1st and 2nd July 2025

Following our recent Ofsted inspection, I am pleased to share the key outcomes with you. I am delighted to report that the school has been judged ‘Good’ in all areas, reflecting the commitment, hard work, and enthusiasm of our whole school community.

The inspection highlighted many strengths across the school, and we are proud of the recognition given to the quality of education, the positive behaviour and attitudes of our pupils, and the strength of our school community.

Key Highlights from the Report:

Quality of Education – GOOD

  • Our curriculum is ambitious and thoughtfully planned.
  • Early reading and phonics were praised as a particular strength—taught systematically and with rigour.
  • Pupils enjoy reading and are well-prepared for the wider English curriculum.
  • Staff are skilled, and subject leaders are well-trained and passionate.

Behaviour and Attitudes – GOOD

  • Pupils were described as well-behaved, respectful, and responsive to our school values.
  • Attendance is good, and leaders are proactive in supporting families where persistent absence is a concern.
  • Pupils feel safe in school and understand how to keep themselves safe both online and in the wider world.

Personal Development – GOOD

  • Pupils demonstrate confidence, respect for diversity, and a clear understanding of fairness and equality.
  • They take pride in their school and engage positively in leadership opportunities such as being play leaders and reading ambassadors.
  • Our school is helping pupils build resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of community.

Leadership and Management – GOOD

  • Leaders are ambitious and deeply committed to continuous improvement.
  • Staff feel supported and proud to work at the school.
  • Governance is strong, and the provision for pupils with SEND is well-led and inclusive.
  • Safeguarding is effective, with well-established systems and a strong culture of care.

Early Years – GOOD

  • The Early Years curriculum is inclusive and ambitious, particularly for disadvantaged and SEND pupils.
  • A strong focus on early phonics, communication, and vocabulary was highlighted, alongside excellent transition arrangements.
  • Children are developing key early skills within a warm and purposeful environment.
  • Leadership of early years is strong.

Next Steps and development points

The main area for improvement identified was around refining how assessment is used to inform teaching in the wider curriculum. This is not about adding more assessment, but about using it more effectively to enhance curriculum delivery and pupil progress.  As a school we had already highlighted this for next year’s school development planning.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to all our staff, governors, and most importantly, our wonderful pupils. The inspectors commented on how welcoming and articulate the children were, and we are incredibly proud of how they represented our school.

Thank you to all our families for your continued support and trust in us. This outcome reflects the strength of our whole school community, and we remain committed to making our school even better in the months and years to come.

With very best wishes,

Julia Marshall
